"For you [God] created my
inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your
works are wonderful, I know that full well." ...Psalm 139:13-14
Remember those love songs that sing of "sweet surrender?"
The sweetest of all is the surrender that we need make to receive
our salvation. Fundamentally, that is all we CAN DO receive
it. We can not earn it (But through surrender, we CAN gradually
learn obedience, which preceeds and comes with learning to receive
Christ's Lordship.)
"For it is by grace
you have been saved, through faithÑand this not from yourselves,
it is the gift of GodÑnot by works, so that no one can boast." ...Ephesians 2:8-9
Anyone can respond but, like any offer or gift, we must act
"to respond" is, certainly, a personal action. By responding
to God's offer of Christ Jesus, we are surrendering to the gentle
knock of His Holy Spirit by letting Him point us to the Father
through His Son, Our Savior. In so doing, Christ will forgive
us of all our sins and let us receive a new life in Him.
Ê Only by turning from our ways can we possibly step into a
life led and powered by God's perfect and loving will.
Ê "When you becomes a Christian, you become a
brand new person inside. You
are not the same person anymore. A new life has begun." ...2 Corinthians 5:17
